Fish Oil Benefts Reduce Carbon Emissions

April 4th, 2009

fishoilbenefits-cow|benefits of fish oilCan you believe it!  Yet again, there has been a new fish oil benefit that has been discovered.  This new studyclaims that feeding fish oil to cows can help prevent climate change.  Over 1/3 of the the world’s methane  emissions come from farm animals: cows, sheep, goats and others.

If you don’t already know methane which is produce by cows and other animals  is 20 times more powerful of a greenhouse gas than Carbon Dioxide.

This new study claims, when including 2% fish oil in the cow’s diet, the methane emissions that are produced from these animals are greatly reduced.

According to Dr. Lorraine Lillis from the University College Dublin:

The fish oil affects the methane-producing bacteria in the rumen part of the cow’s gut, leading to reduced emissions.

FISH OIL contains omega-3 fatty acids which have been instrumental in human health, but has also proven beneficial to the heart and circulatory systems of livestock animals as well.

It’s appearing that we are hearing about new benefits of fish oil on very frequent basis
